Afterlife

My original characters Jess and Tau meeting in Afterlife on Omega after 'rediscovering' each other. The name and place is appropriate for the circumstances of their meeting. xD

I'm sure Tau is saying something along the lines of 'What, going to stab me again?' while walking into the knife. Jess's reaction to finding out her long dead friend is actually alive- is less than favorable.

How it all happened:

A pit fighter for her masters amusement, Jess met Tau when he approached her after a particularly brutal encounter with a group of local thugs who sought revenge after losing their bets in the pit. A highly skilled killer Tau took down two of the thugs, allowing the others escape. Having seen the girl fight several times before he was intrigued by her, despite a less than favorable attitude towards humans. After returning the injured girl to an old Quarians junkyard she usually took refuge in with another human slave named Kate, he began to follow the girl- teaching her how to better fight and defend herself in the ring. Over time Jess began to develop feelings for the older Turian- and he found himself surprisingly enamored despite himself, but their relationship was found out by the Batarian slavers, who then staged a death match between the two, saying that Tau was rigging the fights by teaching the girl to fight and then betting on her in the ring.

A highly trained hand to hand specialist in the Turian military, Tau would have easily killed the young slave. Instead, he left an opening so she could end the fight by stabbing him in the ribs, effectively saving her life in exchange for his own- probably the only act of true compassion he has ever committed. As he died, Tau cursed the Batarians slavers, and demanded Jess kill as many of them as she could for him. His unconscious body was drug from the pit by blue suns mercenaries.

Jess escaped the slave world with help of the Quarian salvager who owned her counterpart from mindoir Kate- killing several of the Batarians responsible for Tau's 'death' as she left.

Several years later the two were unexpectedly re-united when Jess attempted to carry out a hit on a Arms dealer Tau was hired to protect. Tau recognized Jess instantly and tried to reason with her explaining who he was. She did not believe him until they engaged in hand to hand combat, recollecting his movements from back when they sparred as friends. Upon realizing her dead friend had in fact been alive all these years, Jess fled from the battle- overwhelmed.

She went to ground on Omega, hoping to elude the Turian ghost, only to be tracked down and cornered in the club Afterlife.

These events take place in the year before the attack on the Citadel.

I am really happy with how this turned out, actually spent some time on it and painted that background... ugh. I sorta like how they are off to the side.. makes them seem kinda.. hidden? I dunno... Tau is a chump. xD
